Access UpToDate Through Cerner

Direct access to UpToDate® brings clinical decision support closer to the point of care and allows clinicians to accrue CME/CE credits with searches conducted through the EHR/EMR.

UpToDate Search in the Physician Organizer

The UpToDate free text search link can be embedded into the Cerner Organizer top toolbar, making it easy to quickly search for a topic without opening a patient's chart.

Cerner supports the HL7 Infobutton

  • Tailored searches of UpToDate content relevant to a specific patient’s diagnosis, problems, medications, labs and other custom components
  • Support EHR's efforts to meet Meaningful Use / Promoting Interoperability requirements through linked clinical decision support.

UpToDate HL7 Infobutton in the Patient Chart

Clinicians highlight the relevant clinical term and select the HL7 Infobutton to automatically send that clinical term along with patient contextual information to UpToDate. The search results are displayed in an UpToDate results page, with continued access to all UpToDate content.

AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™

With an embedded link, clinicians may earn free AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ or AANP contact hours with all searches.

Physician satisfaction

“We've integrated UpToDate into Cerner Millennium EMR across our entire network. This has been successful and delivers a seamless means of accessing clinical information just when it’s needed – in the midst of patient care. Our utilization is high because of the great content and our clinicians appreciate the CME program.”
