Lexicomp facilitates advancement of drug information while providing shared care guidelines with UpToDate
(December 9, 2020) – Wolters Kluwer announced the launch of a trial campaign for Lexicomp, a drug information resource to support evidence-based medicine (EBM) practices in the pharmacy department. During the trial period, customers will have free access to the global standard drug information resources encompassed in Lexicomp. Lexicomp, along with "UpToDate", the global leader for clinical decision support (CDS) resource which has nearly 30 years of experience, is at the core of Wolters Kluwer's Clinical Effectiveness solutions and will drive the advancement of drug information in the pharmacy department.
With the increased importance of reliable, high-quality, evidence-based medicine in the time of uncertainty such as the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a growing need for pharmacists to be involved more proactively in the clinical decision-making process. However, inconsistencies in the information used by multiple healthcare professionals can lead to delayed and inefficient decision-making as a care team, which can lead to issues such as variability in care (*1). Unwarranted care variation can happen at every decision point for every patient. That's why, today more than ever, expert, reliable, clinical decision support is desired.
Lexicomp allows customers to quickly access global-standard drug information, including topics such as medications and guidelines for often under-informed patients such as pediatric and neonatal patients, the elderly, pregnant and lactating women, condition-specific precautions such as renal and hepatic dysfunction, IV compatibility, patient education (up to 19 languages supported), and infectious diseases, to improve patient safety and the efficiency for healthcare professionals.
